Dynamics of freight in the first quarter 2015

In the cargo business one of the main indicators of the market dynamics of the industry is the amount of traffic. This release is dedicated to the review of statistical data relating to the volume of cargo transportation through the different modes of transport for the first quarter 2015 compared to the same period last year.

Analyzing the dynamics of cargo handled by various modes of transport in Ukraine, it should be concluded that the Ukrainian companies in the first quarter of this year were able to reduce the amount of transported products. Thus, according to the State Statistics Service of the volume of traffic in the first three months of 2015 in comparison with the identical period last year dropped by nearly 24%, reaching 136 million tons. Cargo turnover of the enterprises directly involved in transportation, also declined, reaching 68.2 billion ton-kilometers. Data are presented excluding the occupied territories of the ARC, Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

The results of statistical studies of the rail market is also disappointing. The volume of transportation of railway decreased by 22.4%, reaching 77.9 million tons. The largest volumes showed reductions transportation of coal (49.7% drop), which, as you know, is the main cargo transported eastern region of the country. A rapid decline also observed in the transport of oil and transmission oil (44.7%) and coke (43.3%), ferrous metals and metal scrap (35% reduction). The least drop in volumes affected transportation of grain, construction materials and cement, as well as timber. The explanation – the demand of the market in the production of these categories.

Freight traffic only confirms the general trend. The volume of road transport by type of posts were reduced in comparison with the first quarter of the fourteenth year, to 31.4 million tonnes. The index drop is 29.7%.

Also decreased the amount of pumping liquid and dry bulk through pipelines. Such cargo transported about twenty six million tonnes, one fifth less than in the same period in 2014. The amount of pumping gas decreased by 25.2%, while the liquid ammonia by 19.5%. Fell and transit transmission of these products (31.4% gas, 18% ammonia). Increased, which is natural, transit and pumping black gold on the Ukrainian territory (10 and seven percent, respectively).

The river and the Navy was able to increase the volume of transported cargo to 31.4 million tonnes. The growth rate of this time, about seven percent of the volume transported in the same period last year.

The total volume of cargo handled in the fisheries and commercial ports of the country, as well as on industrial berths grew slightly less than three percent (2.9%). The number of such goods was little more than 36 million tons. Handling of goods export and transit areas decreased (by 1.5% and 13.9% respectively), while domestic cargo handling increased by 7.7 times and imports by 35.3%.

In addition to river and sea transport volumes increased only processed air transport. Air transport has delivered in the first quarter of 2015, twenty thousand tons of cargo, which was a four percent increase over the same period last year.
