Ireland is an island in the westernmost part of the European continent. Ireland is separated from the mainland and the British Isles by straits. However, due to its position, this island country found itself on the path of the main sea transatlantic trade routes that lie between America and Europe, as well as between Scandinavia and the Black Continent.
