Freight container – a conveying unit which can be reused for the transportation and temporary storage of various types of cargo, without the need for handling and designed for mechanical loading and unloading.
All types and forms of cargo containers have a gross mass standards on dimensions, the size of the connected devices, and the loading and unloading mechanisms devices. Key properties for the operation of freight containers define their internal dimensions, height, volume and height of the door opening, the weight of cargo together with the container, which is a gross weight.
There are many different symbols to identify different types of containers, here are the main ones:
GP (General Purpose), DV (Dry Van), DC (Dry Cube) – a variety of notation, standard universal container type or 1CC 1AA, still referred to as dry-cargo containers.
HC (High Cube) – type container as DC, but higher and has the increased volume, or type 1 1SSS AAA.
PW (Pallet Wide) – as a universal container, which has an increased width, whereby it placed two standard Euro pallets, the overall width of 2500mm.
OT (Open Top) – a special container in which the roof structure consists of smnogo canvas, tarpaulin, and the upper end beam above the doors.
HT (Hard Top) – special container roof which consists of a detachable metal structure.
UP (Upgraded) – has enhanced strength and increased load capacity.
PL (Platform) FR (Flat Rack) – Container platform.
Tank containers – Bags need-tank (tank-container).
SB (Swap Bodies) – a container which is used for road transport.
There are many different types of containers. They are mainly distinguished by the construction, as intended, the magnitude of net and gross weight at treatment area. According to the purpose freight containers are universal (intended for the transport of unitized cargo), as well as specialized, designed for transportation of goods, transportation of which requires special conditions: loose, liquid, gaseous, requiring temperature control.
