Restrictions on the movement of freight transport in Europe

The festive mood of the May holidays prompted four countries – Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – to take measures to restrict the movement of freight transport.

In Poland, these rules will be introduced in connection with Labor Day and Constitution Day on May 3. The ban applies to vehicles with a gross weight of 12 tons or more. The only exceptions are Polish trucks returning from international routes or vehicles carrying perishable goods (a full list of exceptions can be found in the relevant document).

Schedule

  • April 30: no entry from 18:00 to 22:00.
  • May 1: prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • May 2: prohibited from 18:00 to 22:00.
  • May 3: prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will next week ban the movement of trucks with a total weight of more than 7.5 tons, namely

  • Germany: May 1 from 00:00 to 22:00.
  • Czech Republic: May 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Slovakia: May 1 from 00:00 to 22:00.
