August is always a tough month for logistics in Poland. Between the heat, staff vacations, and national holidays, road conditions are challenging — and this year, there’s another layer: temporary driving bans for heavy trucks.
From August 14 to 17, 2025, Poland will introduce additional restrictions for vehicles over 12 tonnes, due to the extended holiday weekend linked to the Assumption of Mary (Wniebowzięcie Najświętszej Maryi Panny), which is celebrated on August 15. Here’s the schedule:
Thursday, August 14: from 18:00 to 22:00
Friday, August 15: from 8:00 to 22:00
Saturday, August 16: from 8:00 to 14:00
Sunday, August 17: from 8:00 to 22:00
These dates add to Poland’s regular summer driving restrictions, in force from the end of June to the end of August:
Fridays: 18:00–22:00
Saturdays: 8:00–14:00
Sundays: 8:00–22:00
Who’s exempt?
The ban does not apply to trucks transporting perishable goods, medicines, mail, agricultural equipment, humanitarian aid, or international trips returning to Poland (including empty trucks or those finishing an international delivery).
What this means for freight companies and drivers:
Route planning will need adjustments. Drivers entering Poland must plan their timing carefully to avoid arriving at a warehouse during restricted hours.
Delays can be expensive. Fines for violating these restrictions go up to PLN 2,000 (about €470).
You’ll need precise GPS and logistics coordination. Without tight scheduling and aligned unloading windows, avoidable downtime is likely.
At Neolit, we actively monitor transport regulations and help our clients adjust their operations accordingly. If your route needs a tweak, or you’re looking to optimize delivery timing — our dispatchers are here to help.
