The President of Ukraine responded to a petition calling for the provision of mobilization reservations for drivers engaged in international freight transport.
The petition, published on May 3, 2024, was supported by more than 25 thousand citizens. The author of the appeal requests that the reservation be provided to drivers with a state license for international passenger and cargo transportation. The author of the petition notes that the absence of a corresponding amendment to the law on mobilization could lead to a “transport collapse.”
In his response, President Zelensky emphasized that the issue of preparing and implementing mobilization falls within the competence of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Taking this into account, the President turned to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal with a request to work through the issues raised in the petition and inform the author about the results of the consideration.
This decision is of great importance for the transport industry of Ukraine, since ensuring uninterrupted international transport is critical for the country’s economy. Reserving drivers from mobilization will avoid possible disruptions in logistics chains and will contribute to the stable operation of transport companies.
It is important to note that this initiative demonstrates the active participation of citizens in shaping public policy, using an electronic petition mechanism to express their concerns and suggestions.
It is expected that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will consider in detail the issue raised in the petition and make a decision that will take into account the interests of both the state and the transport industry.
