Piggyback – a symbiosis of railway and transportation. For Europe it is a common phenomenon that is not only growing, developing new trends and technologies, and subsidized by the state. For Ukraine, this innovation, which still need to deploy and develop. Piggyback advantage lies in the fact that the reduced transportation costs, improved efficiency and security, namely:
– Reduced amortization of the engine and chassis of the car;
– Traffic safety during transport;
– Reducing the time during the passage of the borders; Piggyback for countries such as Austria and Switzerland, which are located in a mountainous area where frequent steep climbs and descents on the big road sections such transportation is economically viable and justified. For Ukraine, which is located on flat terrain, such transportation, in the country, economically unprofitable. As for the international transport of Ukraine – it’s a chance to go to the next level, learn new techniques and technologies, to expand the customer base and establish itself in the global transport market. As well as the opportunity to improve the efficiency and technical capacity of rail transport. At the moment, there are many objective reasons that hamper the development of piggyback in Ukraine. This legal framework, which must be reviewed, and the lack of a sufficient number of special platforms. And a large document, which should be minimized. The conclusion is that the piggyback Ukraine is still an innovation, but behind them there are great prospects and a great opportunity for our country to develop and explore new horizons.
