Air in Ukraine. Promising?

25% of airports in Ukraine expressed the desire to develop the air, and in Borispol even going to build a cargo hub. But is rosy prospects for the sector and whether it is demanded? The answer to the question is provided by dry statistics and facts.

In 2012, domestic airlines carried neither more nor less, and 112 thousand tons of cargo. This was the peak demand in the history of independent Ukraine.

By 2015, the proportion of air cargo and mail amounted to 69.1 thousand tons, which corresponds to 0.5% of the total traffic of the country. At the same time more than half the cargo passes through Boryspil, a special terminal which runs for a maximum of 65% of the estimated capacity.

Features of the national airline

Ukraine – a compact country, so the internal transport aircraft unprofitable except for oversize transportation of valuable and urgent delivery. It is advisable to only talk about the transit of goods. According to Eugene Kravtsov (Ministry of Infrastructure), Ukrainian airports can perform alternative Istanbul. Now he is the main transit point on the way from Asia to Europe and operates on a 100% load.

But to air gate of Ukraine have begun to take goods from Asia, major investments are needed.

While the “lure” of foreign air cargo carriers is possible only thanks to significant savings on maintenance. Also, concrete steps should be expected from the state. For example, to persuade DHL, which is going to build a logistics center in Eastern Europe, choose our country.

However, the full development of air cargo is possible only under the condition of increasing volumes as a transit delivery and import to export. Implementing ideas requires the attraction of investments for the development of the concept of development of airports, terminals reconstruction, modernization of infrastructure. It all depends on the actions of government officials and diplomats.
