Sometimes a few days make all the difference in an international shipment. A missing part holds up equipment repairs. Samples of a new product need to reach a partner before a meeting. In these cases, air freight helps cover long distances faster. But the flight is only part of the journey.
WithNeolit Logistics, air freight forwarding covers the journey from the sender to the recipient. We first ask which date you need, then pick a flight and work out the ground route.
International air freight for business
If waiting for the goods would cost more than the flight, international air freight is worth considering. It may be a few boxes, pallets or a bigger consignment. There must be room for it on the flight.
The hours spent flying are only part of the delivery time. Transfers and terminal operations affect it too. For goods that are not urgent,ocean freight services are sometimes better value.
Which goods can be shipped by air
Air cargo transportation is suitable for a range of products, including:
commercial samples and trial batches of goods;
electronics, components and spare parts;
finished goods for shops and distributors;
medical goods, if the route can meet their transport requirements.
Not every box can go on board, though. There are restrictions on batteries, aerosols and certain liquids. The weight, dimensions and carrier’s rules matter here. Where goods have additional clearance requirements, we can offercustoms brokerage services.
How we arrange air freight
Tell us what the goods are and their collection and delivery locations when ordering air freight services. We then ask how many pieces you have and what they weigh with packaging. We need their dimensions and your preferred arrival date too. After that, we choose a route, agree the price and decide who will prepare the documents.
Preparing the shipment: labels and air transport documents
Packaging has to protect the goods in flight and during their time at the terminal. Anything fragile is secured inside its box. Every piece gets a label. Pallets are checked to make sure they are stable.
Most commercial shipments need:
an invoice showing the description, quantity and value of the goods;
a packing list giving the pieces, weight and dimensions;
an air waybill (AWB) issued for moving the goods by air.
Some products need certificates or permits. Before the truck leaves, we cross-check the number of packages and product descriptions in the documents.
Delivery to the airport and ground transport
The shipment is collected from the warehouse and taken by road to the cargo terminal. There, the goods are received and inspected. They must be handed over by a set time. We allow for the drive and possible waiting.
Once the flight lands, the shipment is collected from the terminal. It then needsroad cargo delivery to the consignee’s warehouse. We confirm receiving hours and unloading arrangements in advance.
Air freight routes and combined transport
Goods move by air between Europe, Asia, the Americas and other regions. There are direct flights on some routes. Others require a transfer to another plane. We check where the cargo will wait for that next flight, and how long.
No civil flights operate in Ukrainian airspace. Export cargo therefore goes by road to airports outside the country. Imports also continue overland after the plane lands. For these routes, we can usemultimodal freight with both road and air legs.
What goes into the air freight price
The price depends on more than the actual weight. For bulky boxes, the carrier may use calculated volumetric weight if that is higher. Other factors are:
the route, connections and available space on the flight;
urgency and special requirements for the goods;
road collection and delivery, services at cargo terminals and warehouses;
document preparation and other additional work.

FAQ about international air freight
Can a small trial batch of goods for a business be shipped by air?
A single box is fine if the carrier accepts that sort of shipment. Samples also need a goods description, with their value stated in the documents. The conditions are checked before we book.
How can you determine whether cargo with non-standard dimensions is suitable for air transport?
Measure the item’s dimensions and weight accurately after packing. We compare the size with the aircraft door opening and check what the terminal can handle. Changing the packaging may be enough for some products.
Can road delivery be arranged directly from a foreign airport to a warehouse in Ukraine?
Yes, if there is a road transport option for that route. Let us know straight away when the warehouse accepts deliveries and whether it has a loading dock. This helps us find a vehicle the warehouse can unload without a needless wait.
Can several cargo pieces of different dimensions be combined into one air shipment?
Yes, if these goods are permitted to travel together. The boxes and pallets may differ in size within one shipment. We write down a weight and set of dimensions for every piece. These records make the overall figures easier to check. They also help avoid confusion on receipt.
What should you do if the cargo is rejected for air transport after an airport inspection?
First, get the reason for the refusal. A packing or paperwork issue may be something you can fix. Once corrected, the goods can be presented again. Storage and a new booking may add costs.
