Transportation of a JCB crawler excavator in Ukraine

The Neolit ​​Logistics Group of Companies has successfully completed another project for the transportation of heavy special equipment for the construction sector of Ukraine. Our task was the safe transportation of a JCB crawler excavator along with additional equipment and components in wooden packaging.

The main difficulty of the project was the need to pick up and deliver equipment in field conditions outside of hard road surfaces, as well as the significant dimensions of the excavator in width (2.8 m) and height (3.1 m).

Cargo specification:

• Cargo: JCB crawler excavator + additional equipment
• Length: 10.0 m
• Width: 2.8 m
• Height: 3.1 m
• Weight: 25 t
• Geography of transportation: Domestic traffic in Ukraine.

The complex of works performed and features of implementation:

• Transport solution: A powerful MAN tractor unit and a specialized low-bed semi-trailer (trawl) with a reinforced structure were used to transport the 25-ton tracked equipment. The low loading height of the trawl allowed to level the overall height of the road train with the cargo for safe passage under bridges and utility networks.
• Obtaining permits: Since the width of the excavator (2.8 m) exceeds standard road standards, the company’s logisticians quickly developed a route, coordinated it with the relevant government services, and obtained a special permit for the movement of an oversized vehicle on public roads.
• Reliable fixation: Taking into account the large mass of the cargo and its design features, the excavator was rigidly fixed to the platform using high-strength chain ties. Additional boxes with associated equipment were separately secured with textile belts at the front of the trawl.

Project result:

The special equipment was delivered to the customer’s new working location without delay, in full integrity and strictly on schedule. Neolit ​​Logistics Group once again proved its ability to solve complex logistical tasks under any displacement and location conditions.
