The world’s longest highway is considered to be the Pan-American highway that connects more than 10 countries and extends for 24,120 kilometers. The rest of the line are national and are located in India, Australia, Canada, and it is dedicated to this release.
Highway “Golden Quadrilateral” (India)
What began in 2001 and ended in 2011, the construction of the Indian “Golden Quadrilateral” was truly large-scale event. This ring road has dlinu5846 km, and its cost is estimated at 300 billion Indian rupees. Since 2012, the road connecting Delhi to Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, was opened to traffic. The road is in the shape of an irregular quadrangle, so got its name. The longest section is the Kolkata – Chennai (1,684 km). Note that the highway has four lanes (2 2), and in some places – six (3 x 3).
Trans-Canada Highway (Canada)
One of the longest road (7281 km) has the second largest state in the world – Canada. Trans-Canada Highway connects all 10 Canadian provinces and nearly all of the capital, avoiding only Toronto, Quebec City and Halifax.
A distinctive feature of this line is that it has a beginning and an end to the island part of the country with which the message ferries.
Highway 1 (Australia)
The longest in the southern hemisphere on the right is the Australian Highway 1 (14,500 km). The envelope of the entire continent, the highway passes through all states of Australia. The island of Tasmania, which has also the site of the highway, connects to the main road ferry. Connecting all the major cities of Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne), Highway 1, however, the Australian capital of Canberra passes.
Pan-American Highway
The longest highway, which was mentioned at the beginning of the release is the Pan-American Highway. It connects 12 countries in Latin America – from Mexico to Argentina. Official length of the highway, inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records, is 24 140 km. The route begins in Mexico (Nuevo Laredo), lies to Mexico City, then along the Pacific coast to the Chilean Valpariso, it turns east to Buenos Aires. Pan-American Highway is a 100-mile gap on the border of Panama and Colombia.
