The Parliament of Ukraine recently passed a decision to approve changes in the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Moldova aimed at optimizing the functioning of railway transport. We received information about this from the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine (MRHTI) through the Facebook social network.
The confirmed changes open the possibility for transit transportation on the route Etulia (Moldova) – Reni (Ukraine) – Giurgiulesti (Moldova), and this will no longer require a mandatory long stop in Reni. This change applies to any type of rolling stock and cargo passing through the stations of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, or going in transit through their territories, in particular, on the Giurgiulesti (Moldova) and Galac-Larga (Romania) routes.
These changes will also help to increase the capacity at the Fricacei-Etullia and Reni-Giurgiulesti checkpoints.
“These positive changes will contribute to the significant acceleration and improvement of rail freight transportation between Ukraine and Moldova. In addition, they will further increase the export potential of the ports of the Danube cluster,” noted Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure .
