Significant protests will soon be held in German cities, and German farmers are the initiators of these actions.
Large protests are planned for early next year from December 8th. Not only farmers, but also representatives of various trade groups, including logistics specialists and freight drivers, freight forwarders and logistics companies, are planning to take part in the protests.
According to CESMAD, farmers’ dissatisfaction arose at the end of 2023 due to measures taken by the German government, in particular the abolition of tax breaks on agricultural diesel fuel and automobile taxes. The Federal Union for Road Freight Transport, Logistics and Waste Management is demanding a number of measures, including a discount on tolls and diesel fuel.
They also said that the protest would not be centralized, and its course would be determined by representatives of each group individually. This calls into question the effectiveness and organization of the protest, but leaves room for wider participation and the identification of grievances from different industries and professions.
