Possible changes in Romania’s legislative proposal for vehicles

The Romanian government wants to consider a proposal to ban the use of trucks from 7.5 tons throughout the country on the following days:
– Friday 15:00 – 21:00;
– Saturday 09:00 – 21:00;
– Sunday 09:00 – 21:00;
– on the eve of the holiday 3 – 00 p.m.;
– on holidays from 09:00 to 00:00.
One of the key arguments in support of this project was a large proportion of those killed in road traffic accidents, compared to other European countries, almost twice. After all, on holidays or weekends there are many Romanians and tourists using vehicles on the roads, which complicates road safety. Currently, the National Union of Road Transporters of Romania is polling its members regarding this restriction. But in their opinion, this will not simplify the flow of trucks, but will only worsen the situation. Since the demand for goods transportation will not decrease, all trucks will run only on weekdays, which will increase the probability of road accidents on these days. It is difficult to predict whether this will be the right decision or not, we will wait for the answer from the Romanian government.
