Implications of the weight control for the grain

Rigid rules, which were introduced for the dimensions and weight control on the Ukrainian roads, greatly influenced the formation of logistics for grain products carriers.

Under the new rules limited movement of trucks on public roads with a mass of more than 40 tons and the load on the axle, respectively, less than 11 tons per axle, 16 tons double axle and 22 tons of triple-axis. In other words, if the earlier one truck can carry up to 40 tons of production, at what the total mass of the vehicle could reach up to 60 tons., After the tightening of the rules of weight control this weight is not more than 20-25 tons.

To be fair to say that at the moment such restrictions on weight control are active only in the southern part of Ukraine. And companies that are in these areas were in discriminatory terms as compared to the center of enterprises and east of Ukraine.

Changes that can wait for Ukraine as a consequence of tightening overall and weight control:

1. A significant reduction in the proportion of vehicles for transportation of grain products in the ports of Ukraine. Earlier vehicles accounted for up to 25% of the transportation of grain from the total at the moment, this figure decreased by 5%.
2. Increased pressure on rail transport, and in view of the fact that Ukrzaliznytsia vehicle fleet grain cars has no more than 10-11 thousand units, this would entail other problems.
3. The increase in logistics costs for export grain. At the moment, the cost of Ukrainian grain is exported, higher than the rest of the world senders.
4. Lack of a specialized vehicles. Due to the decrease amount of the volume transported will require twice as many trucks.
5. The carrier will have to convert the existing fleet, designed for heavy traffic, which entails additional costs.
